The Spirit

Why the 7 ?

A beautiful and evocative name that sparks curiosity among many of our visitors.

7 like the Nationale 7, the most famous road in France, celebrated by Charles Trenet as “the road that leads, by car or hitchhiking, to the shores of the Midi”.
7 like the seventh month of the year, July, named in honour of Julius Caesar, who was born on the 13th of the month—just like the owner of the estate.
7 like the number of rooms in the Mas, or 7 like the hectares of land adorned with olive trees and Mediterranean essences, dedicated to your well-being.

Perhaps all these reasons contributed to the name, but above all, it was the magical character of this place, reflected in the number 7, that inspired its name.

Nestled in the heart of Provence, this former 19th-century stud farm spans 600m², offering a true escape into nature. Wander through the flower-filled woods surrounding the estate, reconnect with nature, listen to the cicadas sing, and breathe in the relaxing scent of lavender and oleanders. Find serenity under the shade of ancient olive trees—silent witnesses to two centuries of history and innovation, a legacy still upheld by the owner today.

For your comfort and enjoyment, the estate offers WiFi, a swimming pool, bicycles, a jacuzzi, a sauna, a pétanque court, a summer kitchen, table football, a billiards table, table tennis, and more—ensuring an unforgettable stay with friends or family.

The village

A Bit of History

The village takes its name from Saint Andéol of Vivarais. The name Saint-Andiol is relatively recent, as 17th-century writings still mention the form Saint Andéol (from the Latin Sancti-Andéoli).

In the 3rd century, when Arles was elevated to the rank of a Roman colony, Saint-Andiol became part of it. In 311, when Christianity became the state religion, Marseille, under the bishopric of Onesus, gained influence. As a result, Saint-Andiol was alternately under the jurisdiction of Arles and Marseille until the 10th century.

During the following century, while minor conflicts arose between Arles and Marseille, a significant event shaped the village’s future: the foundation of the Abbey of Saint Victor. Saint-Andiol, granted to the abbey by William I, became private property under the protection of the clergy. The village truly developed around a religious building, which could have been an altar or an oratory dedicated to Saint Andéol.

From this period onward, concrete records of the village appear in documents from the cartulary of the Abbey of Saint Victor.

A magnificent village overlooking the valley…

Saint-Andiol is a charming, typically Provençal village peacefully nestled along the Durance River, between the Luberon and the Alpilles. Strategically located on the Nationale 7, just a stone’s throw from the A7 motorway and on the border between Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse, Saint-Andiol is an excellent base for exploring the region and visiting some of its major tourist attractions.

You can admire the imposing and beautiful 12th-century Romanesque-style Saint Vincent Church, which was fortified in the 14th century. Right next to the church, you’ll find the Château de Saint-Andiol, a Renaissance-style castle dating back to the 17th century.
